Living Room/ Family Room Staging Ideas

Home staging is all about making your home seem comfortable and inviting. This is extremely important when we are talking about the living/family room. Homeowners spend a tremendous amount of time in their living/family rooms; this is especially true if they have kids.  When potential buyers walk through the living room it is important that they envision themselves and their family being comfortable in this space. Here are a few simple ideas to keep in mind when staging the living/family room:

-          Set up the room so it is ideal for family interaction.

-          Remove as many family photos as possible. Too much clutter can make it hard for potential buyers to see their “stuff” in a particular space.

-          Replace any large or overbearing pieces with smaller ones to give the room more of an open concept.

-          Be careful when utilizing area rugs as they can be distracting to buyers. Never put rugs in an area simply to take up space, instead use them to help separate dual purpose areas, such as a living room/dining room combo.

-          Minimize the number of reading materials to just a few, to many and it just looks like a cluttered mess.

-          Make sure to allow for as much natural light as possible.

So remember potential home buyers want to see a living/family room that is open and inviting. They want to see a room where they can see themselves and their family spending time in. Simply follow some of the quick and easy steps above to make your home more appealing.
