HOME SALES UP AGAIN The National Association of Realtors reported Tuesday that sales of previously occupied homes rose 5.3% in March from March 2009. The seasonally adjusted index of sales agreements was at the highest level since October.
SKIER-VISITS UP 4.2%
The Lakewood-based National Ski Areas Association reported Tuesday that preliminary figures show there were 59.7 million skier-visits in the 2009-10 ski season, up 4.2% from a year earlier and the SECOND BEST on record, behind only the 60.5 million visits in the 2007-08 season.
What does this mean for our local real estate market? We certainly expect the enthusiasm for second homes here in the mountains to regain momentum this summer as the economy continues to improve. We have seen prices drop and sellers give large concessions lately. How long this will last is anyone's guess. Waiting till you are ready to retire here could see you paying a significant premium in price and interest rates.
