Politically Incorrect (PI)

I have just returned from a three day Keller Williams Regional Conference and feel like I must express some of my insights about my company and the people that make up the Keller Williams family.  The conference was called the Rocky Mountain Summit and was held in Keystone Colorado.  The theme of the conference was “The Power of One” which is probably the first politically incorrect (PI) issue.  The idea of the theme was to emphasize how the individual, through self improvement, can not only affect their life but also the lives all of those around them.  The only person that you can truly change is yourself and by making yourself a better individual you can make the lives of all those who interact with you better.  Not the power of the “Team” or the power of the “Company” or the power of the “Government” but the power of the individual to shape a destiny.

The next PI statement was again focused on the individual and taking responsibility for their actions. We learned that through a national study it was discovered that only 26% of the work force is “Actively Engaged” in their jobs and careers. 55% do just enough to “Get Along” and 19% are “Actively Dis-engaged”.  The last group is not only unhappy with what they do for a living but actively recruit others to join their pity party.  Only one out of four people in the work force look forward to contributing in a meaningful way each and every day.  A very scary statistic! We were given insight into becoming better people and realtors by understanding the dynamics of the work place and making the personal decision to be in the 26%.  Again, it is the decision of the individual to make their life better and try to influence the lives of those around them.

Our next PI issues were classes that taught us that we are all not the same and different people receive and process information in different ways. We were taught to recognize the differences and to work with the individual in the most effective way.  The classes started out by evaluating ourselves so we understand who we are in order to better communicate and relate to our customers and peers.

Personal accountability was another PI moment.  We cannot blame everyone else for the results that we see every day.  It is up to us to ask the right questions and resolve issues in a manner that serves to move each of us closer to the goals that we have set for ourselves. Our personal insight into the problems and solutions based on strong personal principals will guide us to prosperity and happiness as we move through our careers and lives.

We closed this conference with an inspirational luncheon.  We honored those in the Keller Williams family that have served in the military and their families. We grieved with a KW family that suffered the tragic loss of a 16 year old daughter. We recognized all of the offices that have given back to their communities. We sang the national anthem.  God was mentioned more than once in the many presentations.  Family was mentioned even more!  Over the top in PI?

I just want all of you to know that if you work with one of the agents in this office or any of the 75,000 Keller Williams agents throughout North America that you are probably working with some of the most politically incorrect people in the country.  Personally accountable, responsible, engaged in their careers, belief in a higher being, faith, proud to be an American, belief in the individual as the cornerstone of our democracy, proud of our military, dedicated to their clients and caring toward our fellow “KW family members” and communities.

Thank you for reading my rant!
